Ribbiting Research: Bringing Biology to Life!

Help me give my students a better lab experience. My district is severely underfunded. I received about $6/student for lab supplies and other science consumables next year. This makes dissection and other labs out of reach.

My Project

My students are brilliant, curious, and resilient. They come to class every day ready to explore the world through science, even though many face challenges far beyond the classroom. More than half are considered educationally at-risk, and a significant number lack stable housing. Despite these hardships, they are eager to learn and thrive when given meaningful, hands-on experiences.

Our school district provides only $6 per student per year for science materials.

That’s not enough for even a single lab activity. With 180 high school students, my goal is to bring life back into science by giving them access to engaging, tactile learning they deserve—labs that will ignite curiosity and deepen understanding.

I’m requesting:

Frog dissection kits, so students can explore anatomy firsthand.

Prepared microscope slides, to help them investigate cells, tissues, and life on a microscopic scale.

A genetics lab kit, to bring abstract concepts like DNA and heredity to life in a tangible way.

Set of the Ecologies game to dive deep into ecosystems, food webs, and the interconnectedness of nature.

These materials will support students who learn best by doing. For many, this will be their first time using real lab equipment. These experiences aren’t just about meeting standards—they’re about building confidence, fostering critical thinking, and opening doors to future STEM careers.
