My Project
We are currently experiencing a shortage of bass and snare drums, which significantly affects our overall sound quality. These drums are essential for providing depth and rhythm, enhancing our performances and engaging our audience. By acquiring additional bass drums, we can improve our musical cohesion and elevate our students' experience.
The goal of this project is to help our graduating eighth graders gain entrance into specialty high schools.
Our students come from urban backgrounds that are often underestimated. However, their talent, dedication, and resilience shine brightly, inspiring others and demonstrating the true potential of our community.
My students are truly inspiring, having begun their musical journey just two years ago with no prior knowledge. Last year, they took significant strides in their development by starting to perform, showcasing their growth and dedication. Two of these talented students even had the opportunity to perform in a university percussion lab during a field trip, which was an enriching experience for them. Additionally, we successfully performed at a high school, further building their confidence and skills. The instruments we are requesting will not only enhance their musical abilities, but will also play a vital role in our upcoming math and percussion research trial, aimed at increasing their readiness in algebra. The drum corps experience fosters leadership skills and creates a supportive school family, while active parent involvement strengthens the community around our students, enhancing their overall learning experience.
