This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I am an elementary teacher in a Title I designated school which means a low-income/medium to high poverty, public school. My students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. My students come from diverse cultural backgrounds and many receive a free lunch based on their socioeconomic status. I think all children deserve and need to experience music in their lives. Some students are singers, others prefer musical instruments such as percussions, guitars or wind instruments. With your help, I can provide a variety of opportunities to create music through a meaningful, musical education.

My Project

Music is part of a well-rounded education and has been proven to increase student success in school. An electronic drum set will provide the heartbeat to our music classes and complete our music ensemble. Our music program is growing and serving many students from low-income families who would otherwise not have the opportunity to engage in a music education. Students will learn music notation and apply musicianship as well as add the much needed rhythmic parts to our live musical performances. Students will learn to appreciate music from all backgrounds and cultures as they engage in musical performances of all genres. An electronic drum set will complete our music program
