My students need a variety of music and movement activities, using rhythm sticks and a CD, a listening center, and a running and jumping kit, to get keep them engaged in learning.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
How long can you actually sit during the school day? I know for my students it's a short amount of time. Music and Movement can help entertain our students and keep them focused.
My students come from a low socioeconomic area with limited experience to music and movement.
Many of them are English Language Learners. They come to school with limited access to the core curriculum. This year my students are not receiving music instruction due to budget cuts. The only music they get is what I give them in class. Through music and movement I hope to help enrich there creativity and allow them to express themselves.
My Project
We all learn in different ways. Rhythm sticks, movement activities and a listening center will help me reach a variety of students. I see how my students struggle to participate and project their voices. I also see how excited they get anytime we sing and move. My students love to move. Music is a great way to learn. With your generosity I can have the appropriate equipments my students need to learn about rhythm and music.
It is imperative to stimulate a child's brain at all times.
What better way to get students to learn then through rhythm and movement. By supporting our project, you are helping my students sing, dance, and learn through all academic areas. The movement activities is a great way to show my students that there are a variety of games and get more physical. I currently don't have a listening center to share stories and songs during independent work time.
