This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Rhyming is crucial for learning to read and to build decoding skills. My students are struggling to learn how to rhyme.
My students are mostly English Language Learners who live in a low socio-economic urban area in New York City.
Most of their parents are immigrants from other countries who do not speak English but work very hard with their children. I want them to succeed at reading and to build their self esteem and confidence.
My Project
I am requesting some easy to read rhyming books and activity sets. The rhyming books are for sharing in our classroom and the children will be allowed to borrow them to take home. The activity kits (puzzles, rhyming games) are to create a learning center where my students can work together on strengthening their rhyming skills.
I work in an inner city school and I have many students for which english is a second language.
Rhyming is a crucial skill for learning how to read and can help a reader build fluency and comprehension.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
