This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

One of the highlights of being part of Revere High School's National Honor Society is taking part in the Induction Ceremony in the springtime. This ceremony is the culmination of the hard work these students have put in over their 4 years of high school in order to maintain a GPA of 3.57 or above. As part of the ceremony every year, students light candles and hold them on the auditorium stage in front of friends, teachers, and loved ones. This part of the ceremony is meant to represent how education brings light to the dark.

Using flameless candles will help the ceremony run far more smoothly and improve safety.

Students always struggle to light their candles, which prolongs the length of the ceremony. Students whose names are called early on during this part of the ceremony often have to endure minor burns from hot, dripping wax. And though it has never happened before, the students and I are always fearful that long, flowy clothes or hair will catch fire. Flameless candles would ensure peace of mind during this momentous occasion!
