Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
In my class, we use a reward system called "Literary Loot". These imaginary points are tallied in a community document that the students can log in and see at any time. They receive these points primarily for locking up their phones in our locker-box at the beginning of class. They can also earn points by helping other students, answering questions, and many other ways. The students can use these reward points to purchase snacks and turn in late work without penalty.
The students love receiving Literary Loot and get excited when they get enough for one of the rewards.
It helps them learn decision-making skills as well when they need to decide if they need to turn in an assignment late even if they prefer a snack.
My students are forever asking for food throughout the school day and I want to be able to supply them with snacks when they are hungry. These snacks offer students a boost during our work day. Thank you for your support of their learning!
