This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I run a before and after school academy at our K-6 elementary school. Some of the classes are enrichment and the majority are academic, to help support students who may be struggling.
It can be difficult for students to be motivated to always come to the academy, so I wanted to reward students and provide incentives for them to come.
While they will be intrinsically rewarded with their academics improving, I wanted to have tangible rewards as well for students. Our students enjoy SEL activities, materials to use during morning meetings, Handwriting practice books, and different SEL activities such as conversation cubes and affirmation practice.
