My Project
I teach a group of active and diverse 6th graders who are continuously hungry for snacks, even after eating lunch. I have seen that when students are able to have a voice in how they learn and how they are rewarded the positive outcomes for the student and teacher increases. The prizes that our students like and request the most for rewards are snack items.
These snack items I have requested will be used as rewards for learning goals made during our second semester of learning.
I am part of a team of three 6th grade math teachers who will be using our best skills as teachers to prepare our students to the best of our ability, and we want to be able to give our students a tangible reward to immediately be able to give them for their hard work, because some of them have not learned the value of intrinsic rewards just yet. Plus, who does not like to have some sweets after their hard work? Right?!
More than three‑quarters of students from low‑income households
