My Students

I am a Special Education teacher in a Third Grade Integrated Co-Teach Class where there are Special Education students learning alongside General Education students.

Our school consists of culturally and linguistically diverse students within a low socioeconomic community.

This past year has been a challenging one with students learning remotely. Children have suffered academically but moreover, socially and emotionally. They work hard and are eager to learn.

We will be all heading back to the school building in September and I need to start planning NOW to be ready to start off the with with a bang!

My Project

After this most difficult year of remote learning, students will need all the encouragement and support possible to get them back into a classroom routine.

Students need constant reinforcement to encourage learning and to foster a positive attitude.

I use a PBIS reward system where students get points for participation, cooperation, good behavior and effort. This is all the more important because half of my students will be special education students. Students accumulate points throughout the week and Friday is Reward Day. For every ten points a student gets during the week, he/she is able to pick a prize from the Treasure box!

Knowing that they could earn prizes such as slime, slinkys, slap bracelets, bouncy balls, flying plops, mini stampers, rings, necklaces, pencil toppers and miini airplanes are the best incentive to get students to want to succeed.

Please help me to create this reward box with prizes that the students will love to get!
