My Students

I teach fourth grade at a Title I school located in central Florida. About 98% of students at my school are eligible for free or reduced-price lunch. I teach math and science to a total of 24 fourth graders.

This project will allow my fourth graders the opportunity to obtain fidget toys, stress balls, snacks and prizes in our class store.

Students will earn "class cash" to purchase various needed items in our class store. My students have done a fantastic job adjusting to the many changes at school to adhere to the many changes put in place as a result of the pandemic.

Let's face it; this has been a trying time for all of us, including children. This project will help support my students' mental health as well as their emotional wellness by providing them with stress balls, fidget toys, snacks and needed supplies. Not all students have the means to purchase these items at the store, but all of them will have the opportunity to "buy" them in our store with class cash!

My Project

I am requesting materials to add to our safe, calm down corner for my fourth graders. It will also provide snacks. A healthy snack and juice can turn a student's day around. These snacks will also be such a blessing and will help their emotional well being as well! Finally, this project will provide rewards for our class store where students purchase needed items with earned "class cash."

This project will help provide my fourth graders with a safe, inviting location to go to in the classroom when they need a break, a moment to gather their thoughts, or the opportunity to work with other classmates.

For the cozy corner, we need a small carpet and cozy chairs for students to sit and interact with one another or seat and relax. These materials will provide my students with a cozy and inviting area, which I feel is important to help increase their emotional well-being and mental health. People can't bottle up their emotions when they are feeling mad, angry or anxious. I also requested a couple of books for the corner that children can read.
