This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

All that encompasses the tween years, friendships, heartaches, transitions, plus acquiring English as a second language, and navigating a foreign country, are all challenges my students face everyday. My job is to teach them to respect each other, learn, and have fun. These materials will help!

My students are all English Language Learners who are working towards bilingualism.

They are hard working and respectful. They have limited resources at home and in the classroom. The students are in grades 6-8 and are between Newcomer and Advanced English Acquisition. Some students are newly arrived in the country while others have been for five years. Students are from Mexico, Cuba, Africa, Taiwan, and Egypt.

My Project

My students need access at their home to relevant news at a reading level that they can comprehend. This magazine subscription will help students develop a love of reading. They can read these magazines in class and then share with family members at home. The pencils can be used in every class!

These materials will bring my students a sense of worth.

Instead of using old, damaged books about outdated information, these magazines are new and interesting. Students will love to read them!
