Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
We follow a PBIS system at our school. PBIS stands for Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports. It encourages and enforces positive behavior throughout the student body. Students receive PBIS points by meeting expectations, helping others, participating, etc. They use the points to buy items for each teacher’s store. As a school, we are able to reward good citizens who are positive influences in our classroom. These incentives will go a long way in helping us reach our goals!
It creates an engaging environment when students know they are being recognized for doing well instead of being punished, it will also encourage them to participate more.
For this project, I am asking for items for our classroom prize box. Items such as the fidget toys, candy, and stickers. The students will be able to redeem snacks with their PBIS points. One incentive will be to sit in the bean bag chair during the whole classroom period. I am hopeful that with this project my students will be motivated to continue to display positive behaviors by reinforcement.
