I teach in a preschool room in a low-income school district. My students are faced with challenges inside and outside of the classroom. Despite the many challenges that my students are facing, I strive to provide them with a fun, interactive, safe, and meaningful learning environment. As their teacher, I try to instill the importance of communicating/listening to one another, being a good citizen and leader, and using trauma-informed techniques to aid them in their social-emotional development.

Due to being located in an inner-city, funding is extremely hard to come by, and in order to provide my students with the best learning experiences I can give them, I typically find ways to procure these items and experiences out of pocket or by any means I can, which is where DonorsChoose comes in.
My Project
Our school is a public PK-2nd grade school serving over 200 students. To help create a fun way to encourage learning and good behavior, we are requesting an Inchy Bookworm vending machine and additional tokens. Using tokens, teachers and staff can recognize achievements, birthdays, good behavior, and more by rewarding students to use the machine to get a book to take home and keep in their personal library! We hope that using the vending machine with students will encourage and motivate students in class and create a love of books and reading!
