This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am a third grade teacher in P.S.169. in Sunset Park, Brooklyn. It is a Title 1 school where all of the children receive free lunch and many of the children are English language learners.
Third Grade is an important year for children. They are learning more about education, independence, and responsibility. They are also faced with their first two citywide tests. The change in third graders is an impressive one between September to June!
At the end of the year, I will be holding an Awards ceremony for the nine third grade classes. I would like to positively reward the children who achieve their goals in writing over the year. I think the children would be thrilled to receive a pin at the Awards ceremony - a keepsake to remind them of all they achieved and all they can continue to achieve in writing.
The pin available through www.ForTeachersOnly.com is perfect. It is in the shape of a pencil with the letters ABC. Fifty pins would be enough for the grade. Thank you for your consideration.
