Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I teach 8th grade at a Title I school where every student qualifies for the free lunch program. Many of my students come from families that work incredibly hard but often cannot afford extra items, such as sports equipment, snacks, or fun school supplies. Despite the challenges they face outside the classroom, my students show up every day with curiosity, resilience, and a desire to succeed. They deserve to be celebrated, not just for perfect grades, but for their growth, effort, and positive behavior.

This project will help fund our 8th grade reward cart, which is stocked with items students can earn through hard work and positive choices.

We include both big-ticket items like soccer balls, footballs, and clear backpacks, as well as smaller, fun items like stickers, Croc charms, snacks, and colorful mechanical pencils.

These rewards may seem small, but to my students, they are meaningful. They bring joy, spark motivation, and help create a school culture where hard work and kindness are noticed and appreciated. The reward cart is more than just a collection of prizes, it's a way to build community, encourage responsibility, and give every student something to look forward to.

By supporting this project, you’re helping ensure that students who may not often receive rewards or recognition outside of school get to feel proud and seen. You’re also helping foster a positive learning environment where motivation grows, confidence builds, and students learn the value of setting goals and working toward them.
