Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are coming from diverse backgrounds around the surrounding community which is ever changing. I want to provide my students with the ability to enrich themselves in grade appropriate texts that will give them insight on the grade level study of the American Revolution.
My class is comprised of 33 bright learners who come from different aspects of life and come from a variety of places in the world.
Many of my students are classified as English Language Learners (ELL). While using technology and online resources, I want to provide another outlet for these learners along with visual representations of work. They are vast learners and resources that are provided for students will be used for multiple students as our grade level is doing the departmentalized model where 5th Graders model the rotation of middle school and are taught by all three teachers.
With a larger group of students, more materials are needed to make sure that all learners are reached at their developmental levels and are enriched with my resources and skills to match their needs.
My Project
Students in 5th Grade are learning in detail about the American Revolution and need resources to help with their research and studies that don't always rely on technology. The different texts that have been chosen are at varying reading levels to support the language needs along with provide them visual representations of the time era of the American Revolution.
Reading with Writing is a key fundamental skill that goes hand-in-hand.
With these books and pens, students will have varying level texts along with tools to edit their writing and be able to be effective in the drafting process. These are foundational skills that these students will need in order to continue their educational success after 5th Grade.
