My students need portable CD players and more audio titles to hear spoken English.

My Students
My students are from a variety of backgrounds, in a high needs community. Many of the students are from recently immigrated families, and do not have access to educational resources such as libraries, computers, extra curricular classes. We are a large school of over 725 students and we are a Title I school with over 80% of our students receiving Free and Reduced Lunch.
Our highly diverse population makes our school beautiful.
We have students from Mexico, India, Samoa, Somalia, Vietnam, Bosnia, Russia, and Kenya to name a few countries. We also have families who have lived in the area for decades.
Many of our students come to the school library, thrilled to check out books. Our library is like a candy store, offering an assortment of books in different genres and tastes. Our families are busy working and trying to survive day to day, so visiting the public library is low on the priority list when our kids need more exposure to reading books and technology.
My Project
We have several audiobook sets in our library that just sit on the shelves because technology has changed. Many of our students think the audiobooks are DVDs. Often, students don't even know how to use the CDs or don't have CD players at home.
We have no CD players to check out yet we have several books on CD.
We would love to revive our collection and add some excitement to hearing spoken words to make stories in English come to life. We have a very large English Language Learner population, and having access to CD players would help with exposure to hearing how words should sound when reading, or just to listen to stories. I have also put language books on our list as we have many newcomers.l
