Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My students are a wonderful mix of TK-fifth graders at a small bilingual immersion charter school in San Diego. The population is predominantly Hispanic, and they are kind, helpful, resilient, and creative. My students specifically work with me on social-emotional learning skills necessary to be successful in school. We often use books and toys to target these skills, but after a few years, they have seen much of what I have on hand, and we are hoping for some new materials to revitalize and organize our counseling sessions.
These new books, laminating pouches, and snacks will provide exciting new contexts for us to practice a variety of social-emotional skills such as coping strategies, problem-solving skills, and self-esteem.
Thank you for taking the time to consider my project, and for donating to the ever-important cause of education.
