This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I teach fifth grade at a K-6 elementary school in the Central Valley of California. My students are growing up together in a small, tight-knit neighborhood school. I have diverse learning needs throughout my classroom, but all of my students are eager, enthusiastic, and innovative despite their Title I status. They enjoy collaborative, hands-on projects and working together to accomplish a goal.
My class needs new graphic novels for our classroom library.
My students love reading graphic novels, and this Percy Jackson series is a well-loved part of our current library. We'd love to update it with the rest of the series. We also need book baskets and a label maker to keep our library organized and tidy.
My students are looking forward to Valentine's Day, they will be working hard on a STEM mailbox to collect their Valentines. The Valentine's cards would go in each child's completed box for a lovey holiday greeting.
