it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I am excited to launch a project that will transform the library in my 5th-grade classroom in Bushwick. My incoming students began their school journey during a global pandemic, and despite the challenges, they have persevered and continued to grow. As they enter this important year, they are ready to embrace new opportunities in their reading and learning. To support their continued development, they need a library filled with books that will ignite a love for reading, offer diverse choices, and help them thrive as readers.
The books I’m requesting will create a well-rounded library that meets the needs of all my students through cultural representation, topics of interest, and varied levels of reading complexity.
These high-quality, engaging books will inspire my students to read more, allowing them to connect with different cultures, experiences, and ideas while challenging their reading skills.
These books will open doors to new worlds, fostering empathy, understanding, and a lifelong love for reading. A diverse selection of books will ensure every student can find something they relate to, making reading an enjoyable and accessible experience. This project will improve vocabulary, reading proficiency, critical thinking, creativity, and communication skills.
