My Students

Our school strives to instill a growth mindset into all of our scholars and prepare them for success.. As we cultivate a school community, we acknowledge and celebrate each scholars' cultural background and diversity that comprises their individual uniqueness.

My students are learning English as their new language and consist of a culturally diverse group in kindergarten through sixth grades.

We are in a community where many guardians or family members work multiple jobs to provide for their children. Our goal as educators, is to create a trusting and reliable bond to supply support for our families and students.

My Project

Upon reflection, I carefully curated my choice of supplies for my students to provide more hands-on and interactive learning opportunities.

As we already know, this past school year posed many challenges for our students as well as educators, relying mostly on technology to continue educating our students.

I like to always keep my learning activities fun and engaging and would like to focus on more real-time learning versus screen time. Plus, I want to produce scaffolded lessons for my students' unique learning styles. I chose the ABC's stampers so students can practice alphabet knowledge while creating a work of art. The Hot Dots Jr. game will keep students engaged while reinforcing foundational reading skills. I selected the Face Pad to use as a form of self-expression and give my students a sense of ownership. Even though they may not be proficient in English yet, the Face Pad will provide an opportunity for students to display their unique qualities and a visual reference to elicit use of social language with peers.
