This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students at YES Academy come to the library excited about reading! Many of my students do not have access to books outside of school. To see the faces of my students reading brand new books is pure joy. YES Academy students would be grateful to have new library books added to our library collection. With each weekly library visit my student ask “Did you get any new books?” Unfortunately I have to say “No” most of the time because of funding.
My Project
The only way a students reading skills can improve, is with practice practice practice. Students need interesting reading level appropriate titles. Having a large genres will help spark an interest in my students to come back for more. The subscription I chose would deliver 3 books monthly over 10 months. This would peak my students interest and keep them coming back for more titles. Their reading skills would definitely improve, and be a great asset to them in the classroom. The love of literature will stay with them for a lifetime. Please choose YES Academy, we need you!
