Help to keep social studies in the classroom as we integrate language arts and social studies. Students will increase their knowledge of historical times and events as they increase their love for reading and become fluent readers.
I have two groups of students that I teach social studies to.
I Have 26 fourth graders and 33 fifth graders. Both groups are technology natives. These students spend a lot of time on the computer, cell phone and video games. They are in need of taking a journey through time. What better way can they do this than through a good book?
My Project
The books that I am requesting will introduce students to a time when people did not have the technology that they have today. Students will come to understand the activities that took place during Medieval Times. Students will relive the times of castles, kings, knights, princesses, ect. What an adventure it will be!
This is a very important project because with state mandated tests that focus on reading, math and science, very little emphasis is being placed on social studies.
It is my desire to keep social studies alive in today's classrooms.
