Help me give my students the sensory art, and writing center they deserve back. During the pandemic and school closures we gifted the students with all the materials we had in our classrooms.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I teach an amazing group of students enrolled in a Special Day Program, who vary from ages 3 to 5. The little ones that are eligible to the program are mixture of mild, to severe disabilities. My amazing little ones come from various economic backgrounds, and offer my classroom a great abundance in culture. At their very young age they are eager to learn in so many areas through play. They are visual, and tactile leaners who bring so much joy to our classroom. When we modify, and adapt to their style of learning, we are able to watch them reach their full potential. They love routine, consistency, and an inviting learning environment. Helping them reach their full potential, regardless of disabilities is my ultimate goal. They are an amazing bunch!
My Project
Bringing back our sensory art & writing center will give students the opportunity to work on essential skills needed for their development (social emotional, cognitive, mathematics, fine& gross motor). Children learn through play, and these items are so important and can make all the difference in allowing them to succeed in their school day. My students have specific disabilities, and need these items to adapt and modify materials (adaptive scissors, white boards, giant ink pads, trays). They are also very sensory driven and would benefit greatly from the input those items bring to them.
