My students need an LED TV screen (and components) to create a second display and collaboration space in our classroom.

My Students

The students in my classroom are avid learners.

They are inquisitive fourth and fifth graders who ask constant questions, then set out to find the answers about the things that interest them.

My students come from a variety of backgrounds, with various levels of technology available to them outside of school. I feel if I can increase the technology they are exposed to in my classroom, they will be better prepared for the technological world we live in, despite their circumstances at home.

My Project

As I continue to transform my classroom into a truly student-centered space, I have had to rethink many "traditional" classroom norms. Currently, I am trying to eliminate the "front" of my classroom. One obstacle I have faced with flexible seating and the class sizes in upper elementary is that students can't always see from where they are sitting, especially while sitting at different heights in flexible seats.

Imagine being in a space where the learning and engagement was happening all around you.

My plan is to use this LED TV screen as a second display in my classroom. The second screen would serve two important purposes. First, the second screen would eliminate the traditional idea of the "front" of the classroom. Every seat would be the best seat in the house!

Most importantly, I envision the second screen as an additional place where kids can take charge of their learning by working collaboratively with their peers or sharing their work with others on a larger platform.

I am so passionate about incorporating technology into my teaching. I believe that to be effective educators in a 21st century classroom, we must "speak" to kids in a way that they love and understand. By continuing to break the mold of a "traditional classroom", I will continue to be able to best prepare my students to be critical thinkers and problem solvers in an increasingly digital world.
