Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
As a restorative justice coordinator at my school, I work with students in conflict. When students enter my office, they're scared, furious, and hurt—often, all of those things at once. As a social worker and teacher, I train a group of peer leaders to help me mediate and restore justice to our community when there is harm.
The restorative justice coordinators need technology to help make our work appealing to students.
When students opt into our way of conflict resolution, they need to be able to see engaging, de-escalating content on a screen, and they need to be able to use technology to write their version of what happened and to plan how they're going to address the person they harmed or the person who harmed them.
The peer leaders and I feel a large format iPad will allow us to create engaging Canva content for students to plan resolutions, relax and recharge, and plan to move forward.
