Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
The materials I'm requesting, including play money and reading manipulatives will have a significant impact on my students’ learning. As we begin working with decimals and fractions, play money will help reinforce these key concepts, particularly since many of my students are newcomers and are still adjusting to U.S. currency. For my students from Guatemala, where they use quetzales, this hands-on experience with U.S. money will be essential in building both math and real-world skills.
In reading, manipulatives will support students in learning letter names and sounds, helping them form words and improve their literacy skills.
These resources will help create a more focused, engaging learning environment and allow both my students and student teacher to thrive. My students are special because they are eager to learn despite the challenges they face in adjusting to a new school system and culture, and these materials will be key in making their learning experience more accessible and successful.
