Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
This project will create a calming corner in our classroom, designed to support student well-being and a strong sense of belonging. The space will include soft floor pillows, beanbags, along with warm, ambient lighting or soft-glow lamps to create a soothing atmosphere. Culturally diverse books, positive affirmations, and inclusive visuals will affirm students’ identities and emotions. This space will help students self-regulate, feel seen, and return to learning with renewed focus and confidence.
To support emotional growth and inclusivity, the area will also feature culturally diverse books, student-friendly mindfulness tools, positive affirmations, and visuals that celebrate our students’ identities, languages, and experiences.
Whether a student needs a quiet moment to breathe or a reminder that they matter, this corner will be a supportive space where every child feels safe, seen, and valued.This calming corner will not only help students self-regulate but also empower them to return to learning with renewed focus, confidence, and joy.
