A sensory room will help our students have a safe and quiet space to calm down and regulate their emotions.
Everyday sights and sounds can be overwhelming!
When emotions are high, students will retreat to a space that allows them to relax, use coping strategies, and participate in multiple sensory activities, before transitioning back to their environment.
My students can choose from a variety of items to help them through their struggles. Examples are weighted blankets, floor mats, sensory paths, or a variety of fidgets. Some students prefer a dimly lit room with soft music. This space allows them to reset and return to their classroom.
