This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My ESOL and non-ESOL first-grade students rock! My students are learning a lot about the importance of taking care of our one and only Earth this school year.
As we focus on Earth Day and how to protect our environment, I would like for my students to take home a tangible reminder to their families about the importance and responsibility of taking care of our Earth - awareness of this responsibility will grow to be as strong as rocks!
I would like each student to design two rocks with Earth Day messages. Students will decorate the rocks with the stencils, paint, and markers and I will spray the rocks with the sealing finish. Students will take their Responsibility Reminder Rocks home to display for their families to read the messages daily.
I believe that when students take ownership of their learning, they strengthen their knowledge and skills. With this project, my students will express their creativity and strengthen their awareness and responsibility of taking care of our Earth.
