Help me give my students a literature organizer, lights, and table lamps to foster independence and responsibility and create a classroom atmosphere that is relaxing and conducive to learning.
I teach at a Title I school in Warren, MI. I am so excited to start the year off with an amazing class of first graders! The students at my school demonstrate a love for learning and are kind and respectful. I would love the opportunity to provide them with a mailbox to help develop their independence. Not only will the mailboxes be used throughout the day for students to store completed work, but they will be used to distribute any notes that need to go home. Students will be responsible for gathering their own paperwork each day, allowing them to develop responsibility. Additionally, passing notes out will be a classroom job, providing students another opportunity for responsibility.
I would also like to provide a warm, calming atmosphere in the classroom.
To achieve this, I would like to avoid using the harsh overhead fluorescent lights. As much as possible, I would take advantage of the natural lighting from the windows. But I would like to add some string lights and lamps to provide additional lighting.
