This year I am teaching both 4th and 5th-grade students, providing instruction to students in a 12:1:1 setting. A 12:1:1 setting allows for students who have diverse needs to receive the support that they need to access the general education curriculum.
Many students need resources to help them succeed in academic content areas.
These resources range from visuals to help them organize their thoughts and work, as well as continuous routines and practice to strengthen their skills. I chose these resources as part of my project because many students struggle with the writing process and it can become overwhelming for them. Using these folders will not only help them be more organized but it will help them identify and keep track of where they are in the process of their wiring. Writing journals and reading comprehension will help the practice the skills they need to meet their goals. I chose to include Place Value resources as the foundation of 4th and 5th grade math begins with a deep understanding of the concept of the value of digits within a number. This understanding will propel them into achieving a greater grasp of mathematical concepts as we dive into decimals, powers of 10 and so on.
Please help me, help my students achieve a solid foundation in these skills in order to continue to make progress.
