Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Since I teach in a low-income school, my students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. Despite the many challenges they face, I am looking to keep things simple and provide my students with creative and meaningful learning experiences; experiences that will help them become lifelong learners, creators, problem solvers, leaders, and world-changers.

My 3rd-grade students are cheerful, inquisitive, eager to learn, intelligent, and full of love.

They're the reason I enjoy my job and strive to be the best teacher I can be.

My students know that with hard work and dedication they can accomplish whatever dreams and aspirations they have- whether it is small or big! My students realize that in this sometimes unjust world, their voices can be heard and change will and can happen.

My Project

The items will help support my students in math. I have noticed that every year my students have a hard time understanding fractions. Having these materials will help them better understand and be successful when learning about fractions. My students need to have a strong foundation in this concept that will carry over into the following year and so on. Additionally, I teach at a Title I school so some students do not have access to supplies like notebooks and pencils. Having these supplies will help students be ready to learn each day.

Students are more engaged and successful when resources are hands-on.

Having these products will allow that. Students will be able to gain confidence in learning about fractions and also have basic school supplies.
