This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Do you remember your 1st grade classroom? First grade is the year when many students learn to read and discover the magic of books.

I teach at a wonderful school located in northern California.

My school receives 100% free lunch. Some of the students in my classroom face the normal issues associated with poverty. This however does not effect their love of learning. My students love coming to school everyday. I try to make school a safe and fun place for my students.

My Project

I am asking for some materials that might seem very basic, but they are essential in a first grade classroom. I am requesting primary pencils, which are suited for young students practicing their fine motor skills. I am requesting resources that will help my students learn sight words. I am requesting ink for the classroom printer. I often stay after school and look for and create resources for my students to use. I am also requesting some electronic reading games.

These resources well help my classroom to be more efficient, and allow my students to have some fun while they are learning.

Pencils seems very basic, but my students go through them quickly. It is nice to have extra ready and sharp for my students. Learning the sight words takes a lot of time and effort. My students will enjoy doing varying activities to support their sight word development.
