My students need lots of ink to print their writing essays, skills based practice books and fidgit sticks.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My classroom is very fluid, in the sense it is constantly changing with the students in it. I service about 40 students a day that range from kindergarten to eight grade. I teach all the major subjects, depending on what the students need that day and what their IEP requires.
My students range from kindergarten to eight grade.
They all have special needs, but their needs are all different just like they are. The students come from low socio-economic families that live on the Lower East Side of Manhattan. They are all extremely caring individuals that just need a little extra attention and guidance. Many of the students are at the middle school level and are learning to write essays. Most do not have computers and printers at home, so much of their writing is done at school.
My Project
The students do a lot of writing throughout the year. Some are required to type and print their published pieces, others just love to have something neat and formal. Some have to type and print because it is too hard for them to actually write their essays and research papers. We need ink so the students can actually print their work. Besides writing essays the students need additional practice with various skills in ELA and Math. The common core aligned workbooks and centers will provide me with the ability to have them practice at their present level.
My students get so excited when they can hand in computer printed projects, it makes them feel professional and proud of the work they completed.
Also, having additional common core aligned practice books for them to practice with gives them the opportunity to work on the skills they are weak in. They can become stronger so that they begin to understand the math that is on their grade level.
Having the right materials is the only way for the students to process in school and want to learn more
