My Students

In my special education preschool classroom, every child has unique capabilities and interests, as well as difficulties and challenges. A glimpse into a typical day might show a small group of students playing with blocks, trains or cars while at another table a student is working one-on-one with a teacher practicing counting or naming ABCs. Currently, at another part of the room, one might also see students’ personal discoveries through creative art or searching in a sensory bin.

Although my students' skills and interests vary, they all have one thing in common: a determination to rise above the challenges they each face.

Some of my students are working on identifying colors and shapes, while others are learning how to communicate using sign language, assistive technology or one or two-word phrases. My class loves to sing and dance as well as explore new materials and experiences each and every day.

My Project

Early development sets the stage for the remainder of life's learning. It is essential to provide young students hands-on opportunities to learn about literacy and mathematics in our world that is filled with technology. Many of my students struggle to attend to learning concepts without the use of technology. We have recently gained access to a Smartboard, which will help improve our students' learning.

By donating to our project you will be providing me with a Teachers Pay Teachers gift card to access resources to enhance hands-on learning through the use of technology.
