My Students
My students are amazing sponges. They have such a great capacity for learning. I teach students at an English-Chinese dual language school on the boundary of Chinatown in New York City. Our school is located in an area adjacent to public housing developments and old tenement buildings that have housed generations of new immigrants.
We incorporate songs and movement into our daily routine so that my students can learn language organically.
Non-native Chinese and non-native English speaking parents are always amazed by how quickly their children pick up the new languages. Just one month into the new school year and their children are able to pronounce English and Chinese words. The walls of our school are filled with writing samples in both English and Chinese.
My Project
I am requesting resources from Teachers Pay Teachers. As we get ready to begin the school year with fully in person learning in New York City, news reports of the easy transmissibility of variants abound.
Under these circumstances, I would like to avail my students of a variety of resources to make this school year as safe, healthy, and productive for them as possible.
While I am working to plan and develop meaningful lessons and activities for my new Kindergarten students, I would like to supplement my lessons with resources that other teachers have created to give my students a more comprehensive and immersive experience.
