Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I work in a school where the majority of the students are from low-income families. I teach a classroom where most of my students are ESL learners and/or need grade level intervention. I have a classroom full of students who are motivated and excited to see growth in their academics. Every child is expected to have a thorough knowledge and understanding of the philosophy and Common Core State Standards. Students are eager to learn and are excited and thrilled by technology and hands-on projects that are rich and meaningful. In order to provide my students with the right learning that’s engaging and supportive, I will have to design a well-thought-out and effective lesson that will reach their attention, keep them focused, and have the materials available to keep them learning.
My Project
I want to support the social needs and development of my students in a small group setting where it's less threatening, and where students who'll sometimes fall on the outskirts of the general education class will be able to step out of their comfort zones and learn the objectives that are required that will effectively allow them to improve and boost them on grade level. By providing the supply caddies, glue sticks, cash pack, head phones, markers and other materials needed for intervention and independent learning time, it will allow my students to gain the knowledge of a thoroughly thought out, creative, hands -on lesson required for 3rd through 5th grade Math, Reading, and Language Arts. Students social skills and opportunities will also allow them to flourish when their needs and goals are being met.
