My students come from various backgrounds. Their school is comprised mostly of students who receive free or reduced-price lunch. Some of our students do not have basic personal items for themselves and we work as a team to provide for these students. They are sweet and respectful students but they need to be shown love from their role models at school. They attend an elementary/junior high school that is made up of kindergarten through eighth grade students. Our students struggle with getting supplies for everyday use and we struggle to provide manipulatives in the teaching of concepts due to a very limited budget.
My Project
My students need two more Chromebooks for their classroom for research and word processing. My students work hard to research on the few computers we have, but it often takes days to complete one simple component because there aren't enough computers to go around. Students have to take turns sharing their computers and it isn't easy when we have seven computers and twenty-five students trying to use them at once.
A few more Chromebooks in my classroom would cut down on some of the wait time for my students.
They research many things in my history class and are required to type research essays. Students who finish first have to begin other assignments while the other who have waited just begin. It's a vicious cycle but they are good troopers and work well with this system for the time being.
