Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My class is made up of 30 low-income students, 15 girls and 15 boys. I have 19 English language learners who need total physical response and other visual, and or auditory scaffolds to increase their English language development. The rest of my students are reclassified English learners. As a 1 to 1 iPad school, the students have become literate in utilizing multiple applications like iMovie, and Keynote. They are enthusiastic and highly motivated by technology, which is enhancing their learning tremendously.
My Project
As a 1 to 1 iPad school, my students have gained experience with many Google Suite applications, however, they are lacking more hands-on experience with laptops. Our computers are outdated and limit our students' research. They need a Chromebook to research and access sites that they cannot using an iPad.
Using a Chromebook will benefit students because they need to gain computer skills that will prepare them for college and a career.
My students will be able to use programs that are specific to a Chromebook in order to conduct math and science research, and use another program to create a document or presentation as a mode of reporting their findings. Students will learn to cooperate with peers, collaborate and present their math and science projects.
