My Project
My students are in 6th, 7th, and 8th grade and have short attention spans that make it difficult to focus for longer than 5-10 minutes. Several of them also have ADHD and testing anxiety, which further taxes their ability to maintain focus. This year, I am requesting two counts of the Serenilite Stress balls that students may utilize throughout instruction and testing. Providing these fidget toys to students will not only allow them to relieve restlessness and increase attention, but these stress balls will also serve as an external source that students can release their stress upon, thus keeping them calm and confident.
My students also come from disadvantaged socioeconomic classes, which means they do not have equitable access to basic academic supplies.
This year, I am requesting a 500 count of pencils, 4 counts of different colored folders, and 40 counts of spiral notebooks. The pencils will not only allow students to complete the Reading classwork (like guided notes and worksheets), but the pencils will also be available for students to take, thus ensuring they have a writing utensil to be successful in all their classes--not just mine. Similar to the pencils, the four counts of folders will also be provided to all my students to store important documents. These folders will teach students how to be organized and responsible, since they are in charge of maintaining their folders. The notebooks will permit students to complete the journaling prompts during the Do Now's, which will allow them to warm-up their brains and prepare them for the lesson.
