This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Every child deserves to feel welcomed, seen, and supported the moment they enter a classroom—whether it’s on the first day of school or halfway through the year. In my kindergarten class, many of my students are newcomers to the United States who join us at different points during the school year. This project is dedicated to ensuring that every student, regardless of when they arrive, has equal access to the supplies and resources they need to feel a sense of belonging.
These items will help each student feel valued and included while also supporting their academic and social-emotional growth.
This project will allow me to keep a well-stocked classroom so no child is left without materials just because they joined us after September. It’s about equity, representation, and creating a space where every newcomer can thrive.
My Students:
My students are bright, curious, and resilient. Many are newcomers—English language learners who are just beginning their journey in a new country and school system. They come from rich cultural backgrounds and speak languages like Spanish, Arabic, and Vietnamese. Our classroom is their first experience with American education, and I want it to be a safe, welcoming, and affirming place for each of them.
As a Title I school, our resources are limited, and I often welcome new students throughout the year who come with few supplies. This project ensures I can always meet their needs the moment they join us.
