My Students
I teach an amazing class of diverse students who love to learn and are always excited to try new educational experiences. We are part of a Title I Early Education School in Brooklyn, NY, that includes Pre-K through grade 2. My incredible Pre-K class is made up of English Language Learners, some special education students, many different cultures, and lots of wonderful personalities.
We learn best by using our imagination and our hands.
We like to do hands-on work to encourage discussions, discovery, vocabulary, and keep us engaged. Working with partners and groups, we learn to problem solve and be part of a team. We create a learning environment that is interesting and allows us to build on each other's strengths.
My Project
We are asking for some library books and classroom materials that have diverse characters that are representative of our student population. Having a child play with a diverse toy or open up a book and see or read about a character that matches their identity should be standard and easily accessible. We want our students to feel connected, represented and invested in what they read and with materials they engage with. We want our classroom centers to be representative of our students’ appearance, culture, identity, and language. We feel that this is imperative for our students to feel welcomed, accepted and seen. We want to do everything in our efforts to make our students feel comfortable in our classroom and school.
More than half of students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
