Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My Pre-K students love coming to school to learn and interact with their friends. Although the majority of them come from low-income families, they come to school every day with a smile on their face.
Each child comes to school eager and ready to be challenged and learn!
We are on the move in our classroom. We are constantly mixing things up throughout the day. Large group, small group, partner work, and individual work opportunities are utilized daily. Finding the best way for everyone to learn is my goal.
My Project
These materials will allow my students to feel represented and welcomed in their classroom. The books included all focus on different aspects of our world. Different jobs, foods, cultures, languages, and families. With these books, I will able to teach my students about how the world is different than what they know.
Providing equity instruction and having diverse materials to promote social justice starts with our youngest learners.
Exposing the students to the differences in the world at a young will make a better tomorrow.
At this age students learned by playing and self-expression. That is why we need materials that promote diversity in the classroom for equity instruction. The multicultural markers, crayons, paper, and painting supplies will be used in the art center and students will be able to use materials that represent them. To include diversity in our blocks center we have the family inclusions set, homes around the world, food puzzles, children around the world, and the wooden village people.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
