My Project
The students in my school are a beautifully diverse group of children who love to read and write. Each day, I am more and more impressed with their ability to connect with the world through books and other media. These children crave learning experiences that allow them to better understand the world around them. They are always in search of challenges that reflect who they are and who others are, as well as materials that will support a literacy-rich environment.
Children need high-quality books that showcase broad and authentic representation to engage in conversation with their peers.
The books in this project would allow students a shared experience. These books will continue to reinforce the classroom culture that I hold in high importance: Books should be windows and mirrors so that many stories are represented AND children can become more empathetic. The range of texts allows for students are varied reading levels to engage all and support learning acceleration.
