Representation Matters: Inclusive Classroom Library

Help me give my students literature that represents them and teaches them about other cultures. These books will also increase their understanding of social-emotional learning.

My Project

Our district is shutting down many of the school libraries. Thankfully we still have ours but, many of the books in our library are catered to the older children (we service Pre K-8th grade students) and are outdated.

My goal is to provide my students with books in the classroom that they are able to see themselves in, but also be able to take a peek into other cultures.

The books that I have chosen also talk about emotions which is a lot of what we are teaching every day in Pre-K.

Many of my students don't have personal libraries at home, so I would like to provide them with amazing literature at school.
