Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
There are many things I love about being the school librarian. But I wish my library had more books by Hispanic Americans and for Hispanic Americans. I want my students to read books about characters that look like them and they are able to relate to. My students deserve to be represented in the library.
I am requesting rich literature written by and for Hispanic Americans.
I am requesting "Baseball in April" by Gary Soto where all the characters are Hispanic middle school students. I am also requesting "Me Llamo Maria Isabel" (My name is Maria Isabel) about a girl learning to speak for herself and problem solve.
