My Project

Students need to see themselves in the spaces they inhabit. It is so important for students to see themselves in literature. There is another level of connection to books with characters you can identify with.

I want to give my students books that they can take home and share with families that are uplifting and empowers them to be confident in who they are.

Books can take my students on an exciting journey far away and introduce them to real and fictional characters. Images of black children in books help promote diversity, self-acceptance, empowerment, and a sense of belonging for our students.
