My Project
I teach students who are currently residing in a care and treatment facility. They come from very diverse backgrounds. They do not have access to a library other than what is in my classroom. It has been my goal to provide my students with diverse reads to represent all their backgrounds. I feel very strongly about them being able to find books that represent them and that they can identify with. One of the classes I teach is social studies. I feel very strongly about teaching them truth in history, empathy for others, and an understanding of other cultures. To value each person they meet and look outside of their paradigms. Every book I can get to help me represent that is one step further.
